Emily Valine (Piano)

Born: June 1990 - Carlton, Minnesota, USA

The American pianist, Emily Valine, began playing the piano at age 7, and her previous teachers include Gretchen Chelseth, Jan Erickson, and Sharon Brown. She obtained her Associate of Arts degree in Bible Summa Cum Laude from University of Northwestern - St. Paul (2008-2010); and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Piano Performance and Pedagogy) 4.0 Summa Cum Laude from The College of St. Scholastica (2010-2013), where she studied piano, harpsichord, and pedagogy with Dr. LeAnn House.

Emily Valine maintains a private piano studio in Duluth, Minnesota and has been teaching piano lessons since September 2009. She is an active member of Minnesota Music Teachers Association, serving as treasurer of the local chapter, Arrowhead Music Teachers Association; and as site administrator for MMTA piano and theory exams, Music Bridges, and the Ensemble Festival in the NE-Duluth region. She is recognized by Music Teachers National Association as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) and is also an MMTA Endorsed Judge, frequently adjudicating for exams and Contest.

Emily Valine is active as a solo and collaborative pianist in the Twin Ports area. She is the Staff Accompanist at The College of St. Scholastica (since September 2013), where she collaborates with the CSS Choral Ensembles, accompanies vocal and instrumental music majors, and also serves as Fine Arts Department Administrative Assistant (since September 2018). She is a collaborative pianist with the Lake Superior Youth Chorus (Cantemus) (since September 2014) and the Twin Ports Choral Project (since September 2014). In 2015, she received the Advocate for Choral Excellence Award from the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) of Minnesota.
