Wonju Civic Chorale (Choir)

Founded: 1988- Wonju, South Korea

The Wonju Civic Chorale (Korean: 원주시립합창단)), conducted by Nam-Gyu Jung since 1997, was founded in 1988. The chorale was promoted to full-time choir in 2006. Since then the choir has been performing over 60 concerts annually including regular concerts, project concerts and invited concerts including visits to local schools, hospitals, and companies. Wonju Civic Chorale has a unique sound in which the Korean style is very well mixed with European sonority. This unique sound of the choir enable them to have a wide range of repertoire from Renaissance to Modern Music. Moreover, Nam-Gyu Jung‘s unique musical interpretation has made Wonju Civic Chorale one of the best Korean choirs.
