About the Artist (in his own words):
My full name is Sabin-Corneliu Buraga and I am an associate professor at The Faculty of Computer Science, "A.I.Cuza" University of Iasi, Romania.
I achieved the title of Doctor in Information Sciences (Cum Laude) at "A.I.Cuza" University of Iasi in August 2004 – title of thesis: "The Multimedia Objects Manipulation Techniques on Internet", supervisor: Prof. Dr. Dumitru Todoroi.
Also, in 2005 I received "Gheorghe Cartianu" Award of the Romanian Academy for outstanding scientific contributions published in 2003.
Currently, some of my fields of interest and experience domains are:
* Semantic Web (knowledge management – i.e. metadata, microformats, ontologies; temporality);
* Distributed Computing (agent-based computing, mobility, cluster and Grid computing);
* Human-Computer Interaction (Web social environments, hypermedia user-interfaces, user-interface and Web design techniques, Web engineering, information architecture, etc.).
My papers are published in the proceedings of different international and national conferences or in special issues of international publications (e.g., IEEE Press, Springer, AAAI Press, IOS Press, Elsevier Science, and others) – consult the list of publications.
Over the years, I served as a member of the program committees or/and organizing committees of different (inter)national scientific events and summer schools.
I wrote or edited some books. Since 2002, I am the editor of the Web series of books published by the Polirom Publishing House. Also, I am a co-founder member and supervisor of a young interest group on Web technologies – WebGroup –, founded in March 2000 at the Faculty of Computer Science.
My recent teaching activity consists of Web Technologies, Semantic Web, and Human-Computer Interaction courses and practical works. Also, I delivered lectures within the Computer Science Doctoral School of "A.I.Cuza" University of Iasi and other several events.
At the academic managerial level, I am a vice-dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, responsable with student activities (since January 2008).
In the past, I had the position of the chancellor (2004–2008).
My hobbies are multiple; I only mention the artistic ones: literature, modern painters, and music – I am writing literature and I am painting myself (using exclusively the computer). I am a composer of electronic music, too.
