Private Edition

Summer 1955

4-CD / TT: 245:37

Recorded in New York City, New York, USA.
Researched by William Jones.
Source: Natalie, Borovsky's step-daughter. The air conditioning had to be shut off in the recording studio as it was too noisy. During the sessions Borovsky cut his finger while peeling an apple!! A friend in Connecticut furnished the $$$ for the recording studio to make 100-5 LP Albums of the WTC which Borovsky sold to his students and Friends. This was done almost immediately after the recording sessions. We assume that this Limited Edition of the 5 LP albums were made from the "Master's." Then the recording studio gave the "Master's" to Borovsky who put them in storage. They remained in Borovsky's possession until he died when the Master's were then willed to George Zilzer (1968). George stored them until the time he gave them to William Jones.
William Jones said (March 2016): The Tondo above [K-4] were probably plagerized from the Album of 5 LP's. Brian Peters compared the acetate tapes to Borovsky's Album of 5 LP's and thewere the SAME.
In November 1957 Borovsky recorded live for French Television all 48 Preludes & Fugues! I have tried to find out more information from French Archives without success.

1. Comment fy Farhan Malik (October 26, 2011:
Concerto in F Minor, BWV 1056 was listed Bach-Busoni as stated on the CD. However, Busoni did not make an arrangement of this concerto. Borovsky plays the regular Bach Concerto in its standard form, not a transcription or arrangement. Because he plays the D Minor Concerto in Busoni's arrangement it was just assumed the F Minor is also in a Busoni arrangement, but it's not. This error goes all the way back to the original 78 rpm releases of these Concerto recordings.
