About Gerd Türk

Pablo Massa
wrote (February 28, 2002):
What do you think, dear listmembers, about the tenor Gerd Türk (especially his interpretations of Bach with Ton Koopman)?. I haven't heard him yet, but in a recent conversation, some people recommended me those recordings and praised him.

Opinions?

Steve Schwartz wrote (March 3, 2002):
[To Pablo Massa] I've been following the series, but off-hand I don't remember him. To me, the outstanding singer of that group is Klaus Mertens, the baritone.

Donald Satz wrote (March 3, 2002):
[To Pablo Massa] I find Gerd Türk a good tenor no matter which conductor he is working with. There are better, there are worse. I can't work up any praise for him. Besides, it's the vocalizing women in Bach that most catch my attention.

Donald Satz wrote (March 4, 2002):
[To Steve Schwartz] I agree with Steve that Mertens has made better contributions to the Kooopman series than Gerd Türk. I'd also like to plug the singer I think is a major 'find' in the Koopman series - alto Bogna Bartosz. She has a wonderful voice which penetrates me deeply, and her expressiveness is a peak levels. I don't care to have visitors in my home, but Ms. Bartosz is welcome any time (not that I'm expecting her).
