Francesco Erle (Choral Conductor)

Born: Italy

The Italian choral conductor, composer and music teacher, Francesco Erle, obtained diplomas in Piano with E. Mabilia and Gino Gorini and in Composition cum laude with Margherita Dalla Vecchia and at the same time with B. Coltro, studied Harpsichord and Basso Continuo with B. Sachs and attended international courses in conducting, intertwined activities as a composer and director especially with his Schola S. Rocco (which he founded in 1993), a complex with concert activities in various formations and a large repetoire, which has collaborated for over 10 years with Sir András Schiff and his Cappella Barca, for productions of W.A. Mozart, Schubert , L.v. Beethoven for the Festival al Teatro Olimpico, and recently the integral of Haydn's six last Masses.

Francesco Erle has conducted in Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, for Concert Seasons and Festivals, including Biennale di Venezia, Festival della Fenice, Festival di Bologna, Festival di Steyr, Festival di Gstaad, Festival Galuppi, often editing and directing first performances. in modern times or unexecuted works (such as Pacini's Sinfonia e Cori per Edipo Re recorded for Accademia Olimpica, or the Concerto per Archi by Gian-Francesco Malipiero 1954 for the Fondazione Cini), collaborating with composers for first performances (E. Morricone for „Pietre“ with M. Brunello and Ensemble Italiano di Percussioni, W. Dalla Vecchia for „Kyrie e Gloria“ with Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico, G. Bonato for Lied das Laerche and other compositions, Tadini for Requiem_ # 2065 with the Coro della Fenice for La Biennale di Venezia, Valtinoni, Troncon for M. Goldin and Linea d'Ombra, Priori ...).

Francesco Erle has edited reconstructions of ancient works that have remained mutilated such as the two Concertos for two violins from La Cetra by Antonio Vivaldi (for Arte dell'arco and Giovanni and Federico Guglielmo recorded for Dynamic), or the Opera Marina di Malombra by Bossi together with Pierangelo Valtinoni (given to the Comunale di Bologna), and edited editions for the execution as for Messa in re by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi with the soprano Gemma Bertagnolli.

Francesco Erle has collaborated with the Schola S. Rocco with conductors (András Schiff, N. Muus, Leon Spierer, G. Andretta, Giovanni Battista Rigon …), soloistsi (M. Brunello, S. Pirgu, A. Nakajima, Ruth Ziesak, Richter ... ), Directors (De Bosio, Mentha, De Fusco, Michieletto, Gandini ...), orchestras (Cappella Andrea Barca, Orchestra da Camera di Padova e del Veneto, Accademia di San Rocco, Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico, Filarmonia Veneta, Streicher Akademie Bozen, Orchestra Monteverdi, I Solisti dell'Olimpico, Il Tempio Armonico, Archicembalo Ensemble...).

The recordings Francesco Erle directed have enjoyed critical acclaim and prizes from the specialized press, such as Gabrieli's Chori per Edipo (all the national press), Metabolè with S. Tasca (Audiophile Sound Award), Missa Jazz by Impulliti (with P. Fresu, T. Tracanna, G. Trovesi and P. Favre), Messiah, up to I Predatori Musica Perduta, Choral Fireworks, and the last W.dalla Vecchia's Sacre, given with S. Celeghin, with whom he has been steadily collaborating for over twenty years. He has recorded for the labels Tactus, Velut Luna, Nuova Era, Naxos, Soul Note, Agorà.

Among the criticisms and citations for Schola S. Rocco and Francesco Erle, he wants to remember "excellent", "one of the best European groups I know" (interview by András Schiff to E. Singer, and to the audience of the Teatro Olimpico), "really sensational "(M. Materassi, Arena di Verona), "excellent dynamics and intonation" (A. As a composer, Francesco Erle has written for soloists and chamber groups (including Sette Conversazioni a Montargis for viola and piano, or Montecristo 5,4,9 for clarinet and piano, Rime Armoniche on Gesualdo da Venosa commissioned and performed by Ensemble Musagete, or Madregale Variazionie Concerti per Poli Anas for double quintet commissioned by CISA, Ave Verum Corpus for choir performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, Studi per Coro with Scola S. Rocco, or the Te Deum for Soprano, double-wind quartet and 4 choirs written on the occasion of the Millenary of the Basilica di Torcello, Fanta-Jones commissioned by M. Lincetto di Velut Luna, or the orchestration of two ancient Arias recorded by S. Pirgu and Haydn Orchester Bozen conducted by Gustav Kuhn); for orchestra and choir and orchestra (such as Metexeis for string orchestra performed in St. Etheldreda in London, Piccola Fantasia di Natal Veneti for Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico, or Tre Canti per Soli, sound file e pubblico for the Fondazione Zoè), music for exhibitions (such as Lettura Tiranna for the Civic Musei Civici di Vicenza); for the theater he wrote the music for Il Gioco del Palazzo by H. Francesco Erle teaches at the Conservatorio di Venezia to which he dedicates energy for teaching and production, and for many projects such as for the celebrations for G. Choir Master in the two previous editions, in 2014 he was Principal Director of the Laboratorio di Musica Barocca a Villa Contarini of the Consorzio dei Conservatori del Veneto per i Vespri Solenni for S. Pietro Orseolo orchestrated by B. Galuppi and performed at the Basilica di San Marco.
