The Italian mezzo-soprano, Mya Fracassini, studied at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole; then graduating in opera singing at the Conservatorio "G.B. Martini di Bologna"; then continuing with the Lieder and obtaining her Master's degree in vocal chamber music and Renaissance polyphony at the Conservatorio "L. Cherubini" in Florence and Conservatorio "T. Schipa" in Lecce. She attended specialization courses with: C. Desderi, J. Feldman, Andrew Lawrence-King, Michael Chance, Gloria Banditelli. The degree with honors in D.A.M.S at the Università di Bologna and the course of Higher Education in Vocology at the Università di Ravenna are also part her curriculum. In this context she presented a final thesis that was awarded as the best work in the educational field.
Mya Fracassini's activity takes place in various musical fields ranging from the medieval repertoire, to the Renaissance polyphony, to the sacred and secular Baroque repertoire, chamber music for singer and piano in various languages, productions of contemporary music and the 20th century music. The vocal and musical versatility is a peculiar characteristic and allows her to also deal with musical programs of a transversal type between eras, genres and styles, making it a very appreciated style.
Mya Fracassini has collaborated with many groups and formations including: Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Coro della Radio Svizzera (Director: Diego Fasolis), Modo Antiquo (Florence), Orientis Partibus (Perugia), Cappella della Pietà dei Turchini (Naples), Associazione "L'Homme Armé" (Florence), Harmoniemusik dell’Orchestra Regionale della Toscana, Cappella Artemisia (Bologna), Collegio Musicale Italiano, Academia Montis Regalis, Florilegio Musicale (Arezzo). She has sung under the guidance of conductors including Simon Preston, Robert King, Helmuth Rilling, Andrew Lawrence-King, R. Clemencic, M. Brunello, Diego Fasolis, A. Florio, S. Balestracci.
Mya Fracassini has sung at important festivals and venues, including: Bruges Festival, Festival di St. Riquier, Festival di Spoleto, Festival di Ravenna, Settimane musicali di Ascona, Festival Barocco di Viterbo, Settembre Musica di Torino, Cantar di Pietre (Ticino), Settembre Musicale Aretino (Arezzo), Cantar Lontano (Pesaro), Festival della Valle d’Itria. She has recorded for the labels: Bongiovanni, Tactus, Chandos, Arts, SpringArt, Brilliant Classics.
For many years Mya Fracassini has been teaching singing, both solo and for the choral repertoire, in Tuscany and outside the region. She was a professor at the Conservatorio “F. Morlacchi” di Perugia in the three-year period 2001-2004 with the discipline "Theory and vocal practice" in the frame of "Corso Sperimentale Superiore di Maestro del Coro". She held two seminars on choral vocality including Renaissance polyphony, contemporary music and jazz ensemble ("Voci insieme") at the Conservatorio "L. Cherubini" di Firenze in 2009 and 2010. She currently lives in Florence, Italy. |
