Orquesta Sinfónica Hispalense (Symphony Orchestra)

Founded: 1997 - Sevilla, Spain

Created by José Carlos Carmona in 1997 as the Orquesta Hispalense de Jóvenes Intérpretes (Seville Orchestra of Young Performers) to accompany the Coro de la Universidad de Sevilla, based on the best students of the city's Conservatorio Superior de Música, this group has grown in maturity, becoming the Orquesta Sinfónica Hispalense in 2006, covering the entire symphonic-choral repertoire that the Coro de la Universidad de Sevilla has performed such as L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Verdi's Requiem, or Johannes Brahms' German Requiem, J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 and Mass in B minor BWV 232, among others; more works of great difficulty and beauty without chorus such as Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for two violins; W.A. Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3, K. 216, Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra in E♭ major, K. 364, Symphony No. 40, among other important works. Among its ranks are members of the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía and the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España. The Assistant Director is Maestro Francisco Javier Carrasco. And his concert-master is Maestro Jesús Torres.
