Karsten Lehl (Baritone)

Born: Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany

The German baritone, Karsten Lehl, holds diplomas in singing, as well as in flute and piano. Already during his school years he cpoould be heasrd was to be heard at the Staatstheater Darmstadt in solo roles.

Since 1990 he has been a member of the Theater am Marienplatz in Krefelder, where he devotes himself above all to the modern musical theater. He has been involved in numerous premieres and performances of contemporary composers, and in 1999 participated in the "Bestiarium" television series, under the direction of Mauricio Kagel.

Karsten Lehl sings baritone in Ensemble Six, vocal piano sextet, and is also a member of Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering). He also deals with questions of vocal aesthetics and wrote musicological works, among others. For the Center for the History and Analysis of Recorded Music in London and the International Franz Schubert Institute in Vienna. He also plays with old friends piano and flute in in various jazz and rock bands. He currently lives in Düsseldorf.
