Fernando Marina (Conductor)

Born: Spain

The Spanish conductor, Fernando Marina Miguel, studied conducting with Antoni Ros Marbà and Salvador Mas. He has participated in several conducting courses such as the International Bartok Seminar in Hungary and the Academie International de Pontalier in France.

Fernando Marina is versatile conductor, he conducts opera, symphonic and choral works. He has been the former conductor of Cor de Cambra del Conservatori del Liceu, and won the Premio Nacional de Canto Coral Airtel in 1999 and the second prize of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cantonigrós 2000). Conductor as well of the Opera Workshop at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu, with this formation he was very well received by the critics in performances such as La Cambiale del Matrimonio by Rossini, Don Giovanni by G. Gazzaniga , the recovery of the zarzuela Clementina by Boccherini and the world première of Atzar by A.. Guinovart

Fernando Marina has been conductor of Coral Càrmina, choir that collaborates often with Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, this choir is very well known in Catalunya specially for its dedication to creations of contemporary composers (this choir has performed works of main living composers such as: Homs, Vila, Brotons, Benguerel, Mestres-Quadreny, etc.). Last performance of a new piece was Psalm 117 by the mallorquin composer Antoni Martorell, this performance happened at the Vatican City. This choir allows Fernando Marina to be in contact and to collaborate with conductors like hr. Hodwood, Fr. Paul Decker, Ernest Martínez Izquierdo, etc.

Fernando Marina collaborates regularly with the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears where he has been assistant conductor. He is invited to conduct other orchestras like I virtuosi di Roma (performance of Psalm 117 by Antoni Martorell at the Vatican), the Orquestra del Teatre Colón de Bogotá (Colombia), Orquestra Pablo Sarasate of Pamplona, Orquestra Simfònica de Vallès, Orquestra de Cambra Nacional d'Andorra, Orquestra Simfònica del Empordà-Languedoc, Orquestra de Cambra Gonçal Comelles, Orquestra Simfònica del Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu and many other main chamber orchestras from Spain.

Fernando Marina is the orchestra teacher at Professional Conservatoriy of Mallorca, as well as teacher of choral and instrumental conducting at the Conservatori Superior de les Balears. He is also the main conductor or the Vila-seca Chamber Orquestra (Tarragona).
