Kamala Soparkar (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: 1964 - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA

The American mezzo-soprano, Kamala Soparkar, studied at Lexington High School (Class of 1982); Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts; and New England Conservatory in Boston (Class of 1989).

Kamala Soparkar, an active soloist around Boston, has appeared with has appeared with such groups as Emmanuel Music, Cantata Singers, Handel and Haydn Society and the eight-voice Cambridge Bach Ensemble (Director: Scott Metcalfe). She recorded Dvorák: Moravian Duets, Op. 32 & Dmitri Shostakovich: From Jewish Folk Poetry, Op. 79 with soprano Denise Konicek, tenor Yeghishe Manucharyan and pianist Deborah Boling (Arsis, 2001). She currently lives in Lexington.
