The Norwegian soprano, Guro Evensen Hjemli, began to sing and play piano at an early age. She attended the Music School of Stange, and in 1997 she started to study singing at the Conservatory of Trondheim with Sissel H.Aune and Kåre Bjørkøy. She appeared in Trondheim as a soloist in various concerts and with two semi-professional choirs: MidtNorsk Solistensemble and Schola St.Sunnivae. She has also had lessons with Emma Kirkby, Jill Feldman and Barbara Schlick.
In 2006 Guro Hjemli completed her postgraduate studies in early music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Basle with Gerd Türk, with a soloist diploma. During the studies she has had several performances in the context of the concert series Freunde Alte Musik, under the baton of Joshua Rifkin and Jesper Christensen. Today she makes both solo performances, as well as with various ensembles in Switzerland and also at home in Norway, as the vocal ensemble Schola Seconda Pratica of J.S. Bach-Stiftung, St. Gallen, Cantilena Davos or Herr Berlins Peblinge. She is also active as a choir director.
Guro Hjemli lives in Basel with her husband and two children. |
