The Belgian soprano, Cécile Kempenaers, studied singing with Mireille Capelle at the Ghent Conservatory (KMC) in Belgium, and at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg (The Netherlands) she attended lessons
‘Vocal ensemble singing’ with Rebecca Stewart. Presently she is completing her studies with Margreet Honig (Amsterdam) and Ingrid Voermans (The Hague).
Cécile Kempenaers specializes in Renaissance & Baroque musiv. For several years she has been singing with Collegium Vocale Gent (Philippe Herreweghe) in which she has also distinguished herself as a soloist - both in concerts and recordings, including Magnificat (BWV 243) (J.S. Bach), Musikalische Exequien and Schwanengesang (H. Schütz), and many others. With Françoise Lasserre as conductor (Akademia, France), she recorded several works by H. Schütz. Cécile Kempenaers is also member of the Huelgas Ensemble as well as the ensemble Zefiro Torna.
