Chorale BWV 1122
Denket doch ihr Menschen-Kinder
Nederlandse vertaling [Dutch Translation]
Koraal BWV 1122 - Denk toch, o mensenkinderen

Koraaltekst: Denket doch, ihr Menschenkinder | Auteur: Thomas à Kempis
Koraal melodie: Denket doch, ihr Menschenkinder (not in Zahn) | Componist: possibly J.S. Bach

Originele Duitse tekst [Original German Text]

Nederlandse vertaling [Dutch Translation]

1. Choral

1. Koraal [S, A, T, B]

Denket doch ihr Menschen-Kinder,
an den letzten Todes-Tag;
denket doch, ihr frechen Sünder,
an den letzten Glocken-Schlag.
Heute sind wir frisch und stark,
morgen füllen wir den Sarg,
und das Ansehn das wir haben,
wird zugleich mit uns begraben.

Denk toch, o mensenkinderen
aan de laatste dag van je dood;
denk, o brutale zondaars, toch
aan de laatste klokslag.
Vandaag zijn we nog fris en sterk,
morgen vullen we de doodkist,
en het aanzien dat we hebben
wordt tegelijk met ons begraven.
