Liebster Immanuel, Herzog der Frommen,
Du, meiner Seele Heil, komm, komm nur bald!
Du hast mir, höchster Schatz, mein Herz genommen,
So ganz vor Liebe brennt und nach dir wallt.
Nichts kann auf Erden
Mir liebers werden,
Als wenn ich meinen Jesum stets behalt.

 

Carissimo Emmanuele, sovrano dei giusti,1
salvatore della mia anima, vieni, vieni presto!
Supremo tesoro, hai preso il mio cuore
che brucia d'amore e anela a te.
Niente sulla terra
può essermi più caro

La dolcezza del cielo, la gioia degli eletti
riempiono il cuore nel mio petto già sulla terra,
quando pronuncio il nome di Gesù
e riconosco la sua manna nascosta:
come la rosa rinfrescata in una terra arida,
così il mio cuore
persino nel pericolo e nel dolore
è rapito nella gioia grazie al potere di Gesù.

Weil sich mein Helfer mir, mein Jesus, zeigt.

 

Nessun demonio dell'inferno può divorarmi,
la mia lamentosa coscienza tace.
Che fare se i nemici mi circondano?
La morte stessa non ha potere,
la vittoria è già assicurata,
poiché Gesù, il mio Salvatore, me l'ha mostrata.

Allora andate via per sempre, vanità,
tu, Gesù, sei mio, ed io sono tuo;
mi preparerò per te abbandonando il mondo;

La mia intera vita

fino al giorno in cui sarò deposto nella tomba.
