After studying horn at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, the Japanese bass, Chiyuki Urano, decided to concentrate on singing. He has received several awards at important competitions in Japan such as the Japan Music Competition and the Sogakudo Competition of Japanese Art Song.
Chiyuki Urano has often appeared in opera and oratorio and has also developed his career as a recitalist. His interpretations of Russian art songs inn particular have been highly acclaimed. Recently Urano has been one of the regular soloists with the Bach Collegium Japan, in concerts and on CD. |
